Jonah served the 1st half of his mission

in Los Angeles, California

serving and teaching the deaf community in American Sign Language..., then the 2nd half of his mission at the Family History Center doing temple research.

Jonah and his sister, Jessica both began their missions on the same day. Jessica was called to New York City, Spanish Speaking and Jonah to Los Angeles-American sign language. They both spent 2 months in the mission training center in Provo, Utah learning their languages.

SCOUTING & CAMPING...

Jonah loves camping...here is dad, Jared, Jacob, Jonah and Jordan.

Jonah is 9th from the right in front of this gigantic flag at Camp Gilchrist, his brother, Jacob is 3rd from the left and his good friend,

David Dalton is 3rd from the right.

Jonah was awarded this special sword at camp Gilchrist because of his service to his brother, Jacob. Jonah went on many campouts long after he was finished with his Eagle so that he could interpret for Jacob, his younger brother who is deaf. The leaders said that every year all the leaders ponder on who to give this special award to...it is always a very difficult decision with many worthy young men...but this year (for the first time ever) all the leaders were unanimous on day one that Jonah should receive this awesome sword. Engraved on the sword is the "Title of Liberty" as found in Alma 46:12-13.

He was presented the award by the former Speaker of the House in Arizona, Bishop Mark Killian.

Here is Jonah on the right with younger brother Jacob and Jared.

Here Jonah is playing his beautiful white "Tuxedo" bass. Funny story about fiddling practice...Judie had been working the boys pretty hard to get ready to perform and I heard Jonah singing, "bom-bom-bom-bom-bom". I asked, "Jonah, what are you doing?" and he said, "my fingers got tired!"

A very musical Jonah! He plays classical cello, fiddling on the bass, piano and has sung in many

choirs with an awesome baritone/bass voice.

Here Jonah is performing a fiddling act with his two sisters, Jessica and Judie and little brother, Jared.

We had an aviary built by dad and the older boys...many different birds lived there...parakeets, button quail (Jonah's own),

lovebirds, Sun conures, Red-Lored Amazons, Blue-Front Amazons, Senegals, ducks, chickens,

Cockatiels (Jonah had Otis I and Otis II) and many others.
